[ARCHIVED] Idaho Meth Project

By now I hope that you have heard about the Idaho Meth Project’s Paint the State contest. In case you haven’t, this is a first-of-its-kind youth public art competition and large-scale community action program aimed at broadly communicating the risks of Meth use through art. I know that the leaders of the Idaho Meth Project are hoping to see young people present extensive projects throughout the state.

The rules of the contest are simple. Teens ages 13-18 are asked to use the "Meth: Not Even Once" logo, tagline, or another anti-Meth theme, a little inspiration, and a lot of imagination to create a work of art—any style, any medium—that’s clearly visible to the general public. Prizes will be awarded throughout the state, with $3,000 in prize money awarded in every Idaho county (1st Place: $1,500; 2nd Place: $1,000; and 3rd Place: $500). Plus one lucky teen will win a $5,000 statewide grand prize.

The Idaho Meth Project would appreciate anything you can do to spread the word to teens in your community about this contest. Teens can enter as individuals or as a group – so this is a perfect activity for summer camps, teen organizations, or church youth groups. But hurry – the registration deadline is less than two weeks away on June 18th. For those who will have youth attending the AIC conference, this could be a great item for them to discuss and possibly get involved in as a project during the summer.

Paint the State promises to be one of the most exciting events in Idaho this summer! Attached is a flyer with information about the event. Additional information and registration can be done at www.paintthestateidaho.org or call the Idaho Meth Project staff at (888) 331-2060. I know they will greatly appreciate your support in this project.
